Nina is a French Immersion student who loves reading—from Frank Herbert to Jane Austen—writing, and all things eco-friendly. She founded The Gaia Journal to create a home for young people who care about the earth and the arts.

Why Gaia Journal Exists
Gaia Journal was created to give young people a space to respond to the climate crisis through creativity rather than fear—a place where writing, art, and ideas can spark awareness, hope, and connection with the planet.

Gaia Journal began in Nova Scotia, but our vision reaches far beyond. While we are rooted here, we hope to have members and readers from all over the world: young creatives connected by a shared love for the planet and a desire to make a difference through art, writing, and ideas.

Hello! I'm 19 and a full-time college student pursuing Computer Science, with plans to transfer to NC State. I'm passionate about art and protecting our environment, and I use both my Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop skills and traditional media to capture the beauty of the outdoors. I'm excited to use my visual skills at The Gaia Journal to help communicate conservation! Aside from my art, I enjoy reading, playing video games, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. Hey guys! I'm Iqra and I am one of the editors for the Gaia journal Magazine. I love to write, poetry , prose anything that makes me feel closer to my poetic core. I'm currently a College student studying to become a Medical Lab Scientist. I also am an avid reader and an advocate for a cleaner , greener , sustainable environment for every living being on the planet and I'm very excited to get on board and contribute to that through this magazine.

Hi! My name is Averi and I'm a seventeen year old who has recently uncovered a deep appreciation for the world around us. Through photography, I've become inspired to protect what makes the world beautiful and unique. My experience being a yearbook editor-in-chief, theatre publicist, and frequent volunteer has given me skills in communication and photography that I hope allow me to share this message.

She needs our love now more than ever, and I am overjoyed to contribute to this collective effort of bringing the precious gift of our planet to the forefront of our minds.
